Mobile Digital Infrared Pavement Surface, Ambient Air and Dew Point Temperature Sensor System

2013-02-24
HISTORICAL
ARP5623
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) covers the requirements for a combined Mobile Digital Infrared Pavement Surface, Ambient Air, and Dew Point Temperature Sensing System (referred to as the system). The system monitors real-time surface, air and dew point temperatures of airfield pavement areas to ensure safe winter ground operations of aircraft and other vehicles. The vehicle mounted electronic system provides the operator with real-time readings of surface, air and dew point temperatures of airfield pavement areas including runways, taxiways, ramps, bridges, vehicular roadways, parking garages and parking lots. The electronic system shall be available with or without the dew point sensing option. This electronic system can be utilized as a stand alone system at small airports, or may be used to augment airport operations that currently have a Stationary Runway Weather Information System (reference ARP5533).

Stationary Runway Weather Information System (In-Pavement)

2013-05-09
HISTORICAL
ARP5533
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) covers the requirements for a Stationary Runway Weather Information System (referred to as the system) to monitor the surface conditions of airfield operational areas to ensure safer ground operations of aircraft. The system provides (1) temperature and condition information of runway, taxiway, and ramp pavements and (2) atmospheric weather conditions that assist airport personnel to maintain safer and more efficient airport operations. The system can be either a wired system or a wireless system.

Solid De-Icing/Anti-Icing Material Spreader for Airport Application

2013-07-08
HISTORICAL
ARP6059
This equipment recommended practice defines the requirements for a permanent vehicle-mounted or slip-in accessory device designed to transport and distribute aggregate de-icing, anti-icing, or friction modifying solid materials or wetted solid materials onto runways, taxiways, ramp, and terminal areas and other paved surfaces on an airport. It is not intended for liquid material spreaders which are addressed in ARP5559. The material spreader may be permanently mounted on a carrier vehicle, trailer, or semi-trailer, or temporarily installed on a carrier vehicle trailer, or semi-trailer for seasonal use only. The carrier vehicle may be dedicated to material spreading applications only, or provide additional functions such as a plow vehicle, flat bed or dump body. Carrier vehicles are self-propelled prime movers, generally a commercial or purpose-built truck that provides the mobility to move the material spreader on these paved surfaces.

Rotary Plow with Carrier Vehicle

2022-07-19
CURRENT
ARP5539A
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) covers specification requirements for a rotary plow with carrier vehicle. The primary use is to cast heavy concentrations of snow approximately perpendicular to carrier vehicles across and away from airport operational areas, such as runways and taxiways. Rotary plows equipped with spot casting, or loading chutes are also used to cast snow in directions through approximately 100 degrees to the left or right of directly in front of the carrier vehicle, and also to load trucks or trailers used to haul snow away from removal area. The term “carrier vehicle” represents the various self-propelled prime movers that provide the power necessary to move snow and ice control equipment during winter operations.
