Velocity Trajectory Planning for Energy Savings of an Intelligent 4WD Electric Vehicle Using Model Predictive Control

2018-08-07
2018-01-1584
To reduce the fuel consumption of an intelligent four-wheel-drive (4WD) electric vehicle (EV), this paper presents a new method of speed trajectory planning. The proposed method can realize a fast real-time optimization of vehicle speed, aiming to achieve the minimum motor energy output according to the fuel consumption directly. In addition, the optimization method maintains the cruising speed within the deviation required to achieve a good control effect. First, the road slope information is considered, and then, a 4WD EV longitudinal dynamic prediction model and a fuel consumption function are established. Next, the state and control variables are chosen to establish the cost function; in this manner, the MPC optimization problem in each prediction horizon is transformed into quadratic form. Finally, the fast solving tool called GRAMPC is used to solve the MPC problem.

Vehicle Interconnected Suspension System based on Hydraulic Electromagnetic Energy Harvest: Design, Modeling and Simulation Tests

2014-01-2299
To integrate the energy-recovery characteristic of the Hydraulic electromagnetic shock absorber (HESA) and the anti-roll characteristic and anti-pitch characteristic of Hydraulic Interconnected Suspension(HIS), a Hydraulic Interconnected Suspension system based on Hydraulic Electromagnetic Shock Absorber (HESA-HIS) is presented. HESA-HIS has three operating modes: energy-recovery priority mode, dynamic performance priority mode and energy-recovery and dynamic performance balance mode. The working principle of HESA-HIS in the three operating modes is introduced, a full vehicle model is built by using the software AMESim, and some simulation tests are conducted by using the vehicle model. The simulation results show that the system can effectively reduce the roll angle of the vehicle, while maintaining good ride performance. Fishhook test results show that the roll angle of the HESA-HIS vehicle is reduced by 80%, compared to the traditional vehicle.

The Study on Co-Simulation Based Tracked Vehicle Path Tracking Control

2015-04-14
2015-01-1114
The tracked vehicle with a fully hydraulic driving system, which has a strong traveling performance of passing and mobility ability in the complex terrain, is a typical system of mechanical-electrical-hydraulic integration. At the same time, for the good low-speed stability of the hydraulic system, this vehicle is widely applied in most engineering projects. However, for the complexity and unpredictability of the motion state in the complex environment and the power matching of the driving system, the driving path of the tracked vehicle with hydraulic driving is difficult to control. Moreover, for the complicated interaction between mechanics, the establishment of the mathematical model is much more complex, and the traditional mechanics-control and hydraulic-control co-simulation can not accurately simulate this physical phenomenon. The kinematic and dynamics characteristics of the tracked vehicle are studied firstly, and the dynamics model is built.

Effect of Design Features on Dynamic Characteristics of VCC Piston for I. C. Engine

2013-04-08
2013-01-0296
VCC (variable combustion chamber) piston technology would be one of the best substitutes for VCR (variable compression ratio) technology due to its extremely fast dynamic response with simple structure. One of the key issues of VCC piston technology is its dynamic response, which means fast, timely and enough variation of the combustion chamber volume during combustion in each working cycle while excess in-cylinder pressure occurs. Two key design features, ball-profiles and a reset cam, are introduced in order to ensure the availability of transient dynamic characteristics of VCC piston. Several formulas are derived from the structural analysis on VCC piston to describe the relationship between VCC piston design and its dynamic characteristics.
