Vehicle Feature Recognition Method Based on Image Semantic Segmentation

In the process of truck overload and over-limit detection, it is necessary to detect the characteristics of the vehicle's size, type, and wheel number. In addition, in some vehicle vision-based load recognition systems, the vehicle load can be calculated by detecting the vibration frequency of specific parts of the vehicle or the change in the length of the suspension during the vehicle's forward process. Therefore, it is essential to quickly and accurately identify vehicle features through the camera. This paper proposes a vehicle feature recognition method based on image semantic segmentation and Python, which can identify the length, height, number of wheels and vibration frequency at specific parts of the vehicle based on the vehicle driving video captured by the roadside camera.

Vehicle Accelerator and Brake Pedal On-Off State Judgment by Using Speed Recognition

The development of intelligent transportation improves road efficiency, reduces automobile energy consumption, and improves driving safety. The core of intelligent transportation is the two-way information interaction between vehicles and the road environment. At present, road environmental information can flow to the vehicle, while the vehicle’s information rarely flows to the outside world. The electronic throttle and electronic braking systems of some vehicles use sensors to get the state of the accelerator and brake pedal, which can be transmitted to the outside environment through technologies such as the Internet of Vehicles. But the Internet of Vehicles technology has not been widely used, and it relies on signal sources, which is a passive way of information acquisition. In this paper, an active identification method is proposed to get the vehicle pedal on-off state as well as the driver’s operation behavior through existing traffic facilities.

Topology Optimization Design on Cooling-Plate for Lithium-ion Battery Based on Electro-Thermal Model

A flow channel design of the battery liquid cooling plate is carried out through the variable density topology optimization method according to the heat dissipation requirements of lithium-ion power batteries under actual working conditions. Firstly, given the non-uniform heat generation of lithium battery cells, the heat generation mechanism is studied so that the battery electro-thermal model is established, then the distribution regularity of heat generation rate in the cell at different discharge rates is obtained. Subsequently, through COMSOL Multiphysics simulation software, the multi-objective topology optimization of the primary configuration radiator is conducted. The weights of the optimization objectives minimum temperature and minimum flow resistance are determined by practical engineering application. Finally, an optimized model with a volume fraction of 50% was obtained.

This paper combines fluid software STAR-CCM+ and finite element software ABAQUS to solve the temperature field of this Gasoline engine exhaust manifold based on loose coupling method. Through the simulation of car parking cooling - full load condition at full speed, we estimate thermal fatigue life of the exhaust manifold with the plastic strain increment as the evaluation parameters. It can guide the direction of optimal design of the exhaust manifold. Here we also revealed how the bolt force affects the manifold elastic and plastic behavior.

Thermal Management Design and Simulation of Symmetric Air-Cooled System for Lithium Battery

Good heat dissipation of Lithium battery can prevent the battery from shortening its life due to rapid aging or thermal runaway. In this paper, an air-cooled structure of 5 series and 3 parallel battery packs is designed, which combines the advantages of series and parallel air ducts and optimizes the heat dissipation effect and the space ratio of air ducts. First, the heat generation model of NCR18650PF lithium battery is established, and the heat generation rate and time under different discharge rates are calculated. Combined with the working conditions of the battery itself, the necessity of battery pack heat dissipation was found.

The Selection of Working Fluid Used in the Organic Rankine Cycle System for Hydraulic Retarder

With the improvement of occupants’ awareness on the driving safety, hydraulic retarder applications increase quickly. The traditional hydraulic retarder, on the one hand, exhausts the waste heat of transmission oil by the engine cooling system; on the other hand, the engine power should be consumed to drive the water pump and the engine cooling fan for maintaining the normal operation of the auxiliary braking system. In this study, the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) instead of the traditional hydraulic retarder water-cooling system is applied to achieve the effective temperature control of the hydraulic retarder, while the waste heat of transmission oil could be recovered for saving vehicle energy consumption. The ORC fluid selection needs comprehensive consideration for the net power of the ORC and the optimal temperature range of the retarder transmission oil at both the inlet and outlet end, which is the key issue to ensure the stability and efficiency of the ORC system performance.

The Research on the Temperature Control Stability of Hydraulic Retarder Oil Based on Organic Rankine Cycle

The hydraulic retarder is an auxiliary braking device generally equipped on commercial vehicles. Its oil temperature change influences the brake performance of hydraulic retarder. The Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) is a good means to recover exhausted heat. Moreover, it can cool oil and stably control oil temperature with the help of heat absorption related with evaporation. Comprehensively considering the heat-producing characteristics of hydraulic retarder and the temperature control demand, the aimed boundary conditions are determined. Also the changing rules about the working medium flow rate are obtained. In this work, the heat-producing properties of hydraulic retarder under different conditions and the oil external circulating performance is firstly analyzed. By researching the system’s adaptation to the limiting conditions, the aimed temperature to control is prescribed.

The Research of the Heavy Truck’s Warming System

It’s not easy to start the engine in winter, especially in frigid highlands, because the low temperature increases the fuel’s viscosity, decreasing the lubricating oil flow ability and the storage performance of battery. Current electrical heating method can improve the engine starting performance in low temperature condition, but this method adds an external power to the engine, leading to the engine cannot maintain an efficient energy utilization. A warming device using the solar energy is designed to conserve the energy during the daytime, and directly warm up the engine at the time when the engine turns off for a long time, especially during the night. A solar collector installed on the top of the vehicle is used to convert the solar energy to the thermal energy, which is then transferred to the heat accumulator that contain the phase-change medium which can increase the heat storage performance.

Automotive Front Lighting System(AFS) can receive the steering signal and the vehicular speed signal to adjust the position of headlamps automatically. AFS will provide drivers more information of front road to protect drivers safe when driving at night. AFS works when there is a steering signal input. However, drivers often need the front road's information before they turn the steering wheel when vehicles are going to go through a sharp corner, AFS will not work in such a situation. This paper studied how to optimize the working time of AFS based on GIS (Geographic Information System) and GPS(Geographic Information System) to solve the problem. This paper analyzed the process of the vehicle is about to go through a corner. Low beams and high beams were discussed respectively.

The Organic Medium Physical State Analysis for Engine Exhaust Thermal Recovery

The Organic Rankine Cycle System is an effective approach for recovering the engine exhaust thermal energy. The physical characteristic of the Rankine fluid is the key factor for the capacity and the stability of the expander power output. In the research, the influences of the evaporator organic medium state and flow rate on the expander power output are fully analyzed for the sufficient utilization of the waste thermal energy. Firstly, the exhaust characteristics of the diesel engine were processed by the data of the bench test. Then, the integral mathematical model of the Organic Rankine Cycle was built. Based on the comparison for the 2-zone and 3-zone evaporator, the influence for expander output are analyzed especially emphasis on the factors of engine working condition, the flow rate, temperature and state of Rankine fluid.

The Modeling and Performance Analysis of the Retarder Thermal Management System

In order to obtain the comprehensive evaluation of thermal management system for the retarder, the complete driveline thermal management model is built. The characteristic parameters for the thermal management system are determined and the hydromechanical characteristics for the retarder are fixed by the rig test. On the basis of the same whole vehicle driving cycle, comparing to the traditional mechanical-drive system, the independent-drive system makes the working temperature of the heat source more stable. Meanwhile the parasitic power caused by the radiator fan is decreased markedly on the condition that the heat reject requirement of the heat source is satisfied.

The Energy Saving of Cooling Fan with Electro-Hydraulic Motors Based on Fuzzy Control

The cooling system with two fans is generally driven by electrical motors in the small cars. Compared with the traditional cars, heavy duty trucks have the larger heat dissipation power of cooling system. The motors power consumption of dual fans will be larger and the two electrical motors will occupy a large space in the engine cabin. Hydrostatic drive refers to the cooling fan is driven by hydraulic motor, but it has the low transmission efficiency. According to the engine water temperature value and the actual working status of the hydraulic system, the actual speed of cooling fan can be controlled by the computer, which guarantees the normal working water temperature of the engine. Hydrostatic drive is generally applied to heavy vehicles, engineering machinery and excavators as driving source of cooling fan which contains the advantages of large output power, overload protection, continuous speed regulation and flexible space arrangements.

This paper focuses on the network programming and distribution for Car-sharing, which helps to clarify the characteristics and basic law of Car-sharing network development, as well as the main approaches to construct it. Firstly, by analyzing the effect factors and expanding ways of Car-sharing network, characteristics of the development of Car-sharing industry and its network, as well as main Car-sharing users and services, the influence factors of Car-sharing demand and the main demand points in a city are summarized. Secondly, in order to better evaluate the network programming and distribution for Car-sharing, this paper proposes an optimization decision method of the car-sharing network planning by evaluating the possible alternatives in a same scale. The assessment index of Car-sharing network planning is constructed.

The Driving Planning of Pure Electric Commercial Vehicles on Curved Slope Road in Mountainous Area Based on Vehicle-Road Collaboration

The mountain roads are curved and complicated, with undulating terrain and large distance between charging stations. Compared with traditional powered vehicles, in addition to safety issues, pure electric vehicles also need to deal with the driving range issue. At present, the relevant researches on automobile driving in mountainous areas mainly focus on the driving safety of traditional fuel oil vehicles when going uphill and downhill, while there are few researches on the driving planning of pure electric commercial vehicles on curved slope road. This paper presents a speed planning method for pure electric commercial vehicles based on vehicle-road collaboration technology. First, establish the vehicle dynamics model, analyze the vehicle dynamics characteristics when passing the downhill curve, calculate the safe speed range of the vehicle when passing the downhill curve, and establish the safe speed model of the downhill curve.

The Driving Behavior Data Acquisition and Identification Based on Vehicle Bus

This research is based on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus, and briefly analyzed its communication protocol with reference to the layered model of Open System Interconnect Reference Model (OSI). Subsequently, a data acquisition system was designed and developed including a Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI) and a laptop. After the overall architecture was built, the communication mechanism of the VCI was studied. Furthermore, the lap top app was built using the layered design followed by the implementation of a scheme for data collection and experimentation involving the test driving of a real car on road. Finally, the driving style was identified by means of fuzzy reasoning and solving ambiguity based on fuzzy theory; via training the acceleration sample and forecast using the excellent learning and generalization ability of Support Vector Machine (SVM) for high-dimensional, finite samples.

The Development of Software for Automobile Sound Modulation and Application

Based on the technology of the order tracking and extraction, a software for the modulation of sound quality of automotive order sound is developed in this paper. The order analysis, the amplitude modulation of order sound in specific speed range and the calculation of the functional expression of the order sound amplitude are integrated in this software. Furthermore, a side-valve interpolation correction algorithm (SV-ICA) is proposed to solve the problem that the smooth transition of the order sound curve at endpoints cannot be guaranteed, which would result in the appearance of abnormal noise in the modulated sounds. The application of built software in constructing the automobile sounds with the sound quality of sportiness is demonstrated.

The Auxiliary System of Cleaning Vehicle Based on Road Recognition Technology

With the development of economy, the road cleaning faces great challenges because the road area keeps increasing and the road types tend to be diversified. Cleaning vehicle is widely used in road surface cleaning, but it is more and more difficult to meet the demand of road surface cleaning only through using a single road surface cleaning method. If the way of manual adjustment of cleaning parameters is adopted, the driver is required to have rich experience. At present, there is an urgent need for a cleaning vehicle that can autonomously adjust cleaning parameters according to the road surface. This study is based on road recognition technology. After the pavement category is reflected by the visual sensor feedback information and the pavement adhesion coefficient, the parameters of the cleaning vehicle are adjusted by the controller to adapt to different roads.

The Application of the PUREM SCR System on YC6L350-40 HD Diesel Engine

In order to meet the Euro IV HD diesel engine emission standard legislation limits, an efficient SCR system is adopted for PM optimized YC6L350-40 HD diesel engine serving in China. This paper presents tests made on the engine. The engine had base NOx emission of 8.8g/kwh over the ESC and 8.7g/kwh over the ETC. Outfitted with a 24.7 liter 300cpsi SCR catalyst, the engine NOx emission dropped to 3.2g/kwh over the ESC and 3.5g/kwh over the ETC.

Temperature Control Characteristics of Automotive Power Battery Based on R-1233zd(E)’s Flowing Phase Change Heat Transfer

Li-ion power battery is the core component of the electric vehicle power system, and the battery temperature will increase because of the electrochemical reaction of the Li-ion battery. The heat accumulates inside of the battery, which can degrade the working performance of the power battery and shorten the battery cycle life. At present, the wind cooling technology is relatively mature. However, it cannot achieve ideal heat dissipation effect under the working conditions of the high-power or high ambient temperature. In this research, the battery thermal management is carried out by the characteristics of the working fluid’s flowing phase change heat transfer. The phase change working fluid is R-1233zd(E) which is a kind of environmentally friendly liquid with nonconductive and nonflammable. It can achieve the purpose of controlling the battery’s temperature using the characteristics of isothermal heat absorption under different gas phase rate of phase change working fluid.

Temperature Characteristics of Ternary-Material Lithium-Ion Battery for Vehicle Applications

Traction batteries are operated in severe working conditions of wide temperature range as the vehicles run in different seasons and regions, which effects battery performance deeply. Investigation on the effect of temperature under such circumstances on battery performance is very significant to promote the application of traction battery. In this paper, some tests are conducted on a ternary-material lithium-ion battery at various temperatures. The cycling performance and some significant parameters are evaluated at the whole temperature range, especially at the extreme temperatures (below -10°C or above 45°C). The results show that the battery performance becomes poor obviously at low temperatures, which is reflected in the decreased terminal voltage and the faded discharge capacity, and at too high temperatures (above 45°C), power and capacity also decrease, which happens in the later period of discharge process.
