A Vehicle Dimensions Dynamic Detection Method Based on Image Recognition

The acquisition of vehicle dimensions in a vehicle’s moving process has a wide application in road monitoring, transportation, vehicle model recognition and non-contact overload recognition. At present, the detection of the vehicle dimensions mostly adopts the methods of human visual inspection and tool detection, which has a low detection efficiency and difficult to replicate on a large scale. Based on the image background subtraction method, this paper proposes a vehicle dimensions detection method, which can realize real-time detection of road vehicle dimensions. This method uses an adaptive Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) to establish a background model based on the video stream. Initially, the moving target image is obtained by the background subtraction method, and then the edge detection under the Canny operator and Hough transform circle detection are performed on the image to obtain the pixel dimension of the vehicle's outline.

An Image Recognition Application Method for Vertical Movement of Vehicles

In ITS, image processing technology is applied to a wide variety of areas such as visual-based intelligent vehicle navigation, visual-based traffic monitoring and visual-based traffic management. In the recognition system of the vehicle body characteristics, most of the recognition is the license plate and the car emblem, etc. This paper proposes an image recognition application method for the vertical motion of the car while driving, mainly including vertical height detection and vertical displacement velocity acceleration recognition. The edge detection model of the image object is established by using the gray image to obtain the car motion segmentation image. At the same time, an image length and actual length coordinate conversion model is established, which can calculate an arbitrary actual length of the image object. In this paper, Yuejin Shangjun X500 van was selected as the test vehicle, and the video data was captured with a camera.

Detection & Tracking of Multi-Scenic Lane Based on Segnet-LSTM Semantic Split Network

Lane detection is an important component in automatic pilot system and advanced driving assistance system (ADAS). The stability and precision of lane detection will directly determine precision of control and lane plan of vehicles. Traditional mechanical vision lane detection approaches in complicated environment have the deficiencies of low precision and feature semantic description disabilities. But the lane detection depending on deep learning, e.g. SCNN network, LaneNet network, ENet-SAD network have imbalance problems of splitting precision and storage usage. This paper proposes an approach of high-efficiency deep learning Segnet-LSTM semantic segmentation network. This network structure is composed with encoding network and corresponding decoding networks. First, convolution and maximum pooling. The proposal extracts texture details of five images and stores searching position of maximum pooling. Meanwhile, it will implement interpolate processing to the lost points.

Overload Identification System Based on Vibration State of Two-Axle Vehicle

The non-contact overload recognition method refers to the method of detecting the vibration state of the vehicle through visual recognition without touching the vehicle, and then calculating the vehicle load in combination with the vehicle dynamics model to determine whether the passing vehicle is overloaded. Due to the convenience of detection, low cost of infrastructure and informatization, this method has great advantages in the field of overload identification. However, the model used in this recognition method is the single mass vibration model at present, which will have a large error due to the interaction between the front and rear suspension, and the position of the center of mass needs to be acquired in the recognition process, which is difficult in the actual identification process. In this paper, a vehicle vibration model containing two modes of vibration is proposed, and uses Sobol algorithm to analyze the parameter sensitivity of the model.

Research on Braking Safety of Parallel Hybrid Electric Buses on Long Downhill Based on Gradient and Speed Change

When driving in mountainous areas, vehicles often encounter long downhill sections. Due to the large mass of bus and the drum brake with poor heat dissipation effect, it is easy for bus to produce braking thermal decay in long downhill section, which makes the vehicle out of control and causes safety accidents. The braking methods of parallel hybrid electric bus include drum braking, engine braking and regenerative braking, whose torque models are established in this paper. The coasting test in Trucksim is used to verify the correctness of the engine braking torque model. Based on coupling braking torque curve with vehicle speed in different gradient, the stable speed is determined and the shift strategy is proposed. The temperature rise model of brake drum is established to analyze the temperature change of brake drum during long downhill. Then, according to the ramp data of G22 freeway, the above models are simulated.

Research on Parallel Regenerative Braking Control of the Electric Commercial Vehicle Based on Fuzzy Logic

Regenerative braking is an effective technology to extend the driving range of electrified vehicles by recovering kinetic energy from braking. This paper focuses on the design of the regenerative braking control strategy for a commercial vehicle which requires significantly larger braking power than passenger cars. To maximize the energy recovery while ensuring the braking efficiency of the vehicle and its braking safety, this paper proposed a fuzzy logic strategy for regenerative braking control, and a feasibility study was conducted for an electric van. The work includes in three steps. Firstly, state variables that significantly affect regenerative braking performance, i.e., vehicle speed, battery State-of-Charge (SOC), and braking intensity, are identified based on mathematical modelling of the vehicle system dynamics in braking maneuver.

Safety Speed Warning System for Tank Truck against Rollover

The tank truck has a wide range of application. When the liquid in the tank is not fully loaded, the lateral movement of the liquid in the tank will shift the center of gravity of the tank truck and make the vehicle less safe. It is easy to roll over when the tank truck is turning. This study combines the vehicle dynamic characteristics and geographic information, which gives the driver safe speed and safe braking distance tips before turning, to reduce the traffic accidents caused by driver's misjudgment. The dynamic model of the tank truck is established, through collecting the real-time information of the vehicle, the vehicle load and braking torque are calculated by the relevant dynamic model. The system needs to measure the deviation of the center of gravity in the tank truck movement process, and the deviation of the center of gravity has a great influence on the safety speed.

The Auxiliary System of Cleaning Vehicle Based on Road Recognition Technology

With the development of economy, the road cleaning faces great challenges because the road area keeps increasing and the road types tend to be diversified. Cleaning vehicle is widely used in road surface cleaning, but it is more and more difficult to meet the demand of road surface cleaning only through using a single road surface cleaning method. If the way of manual adjustment of cleaning parameters is adopted, the driver is required to have rich experience. At present, there is an urgent need for a cleaning vehicle that can autonomously adjust cleaning parameters according to the road surface. This study is based on road recognition technology. After the pavement category is reflected by the visual sensor feedback information and the pavement adhesion coefficient, the parameters of the cleaning vehicle are adjusted by the controller to adapt to different roads.
