This aerospace standard outlines the minimum requirements for the quality assurance program of a distributor of new aircraft or aerospace parts and material. It is designed to aid in the surveillance and accreditation of a distributor who procures new parts and materials and resells these products to customers or other distributors in the aviation or aerospace industry, i.e., a PASS THROUGH distributor. This standard may be used to determine the adequacy and implementation of the distributor’s quality assurance program.

This Aerospace Standard (AS) establishes the requirements for manufacture of Elastomer Seals to be accredited by the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP). NADCAP accreditation is granted in accordance with SAE AS7003 after demonstration of compliance with the requirements herein. The requirements may be supplemented by additional requirements specified by the NADCAP Elastomer Seals Task Group. Using the corresponding Audit Criteria (PRI Acs) will ensure that accredited Elastomer Seals suppliers meet all of the requirements in this standard and all applicable supplementary standards. The purpose of this audit program is to assess a supplier's ability to consistently provide a product or service that conforms to the technical specifications and customer requirements. The corresponding audit criteria are also structured to obtain information relevant to management practices and processes that directly or indirectly affect the product or service.

This Aerospace Standard (AS) establishes the requirements for suppliers of Nonconventional Machining Services to be accredited by the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP). NADCAP accreditation is granted in accordance with SAE AS7003 after demonstration of compliance with the requirements herein. The requirements may be supplemented by additional requirements specified by the NADCAP Nonconventional Machining and Surface Enhancement (NMSE) Task Group. Using the corresponding Audit Criteria (PRI AC7116) will ensure that accredited Nonconventional Machining suppliers meet all of the requirements in this standard and all applicable supplementary standards. The purpose of this audit program is to assess a supplier's ability to consistently provide a product or service that conforms to the technical specifications and customer requirements.

Demonstrated compliance (as described in SAE AS7003) to SAE AS7108 satisfies the requirements contained herein.

This Aerospace Standard (AS) is to be used as a supplement to either SAE AS7106 or SAE AS7107 for suppliers who have software (to include firmware) that comprises all or part of a product that will be delivered to the customer. This type of software is defined as Class I software in the core documents. All suppliers seeking NADCAP General Quality Systems accreditation who have Class I software shall conform to the requirements of this Standard.
