A MEANS OF TESTING TURBOJET ENGINE STARTER PERFORMANCE

1963-11-01
HISTORICAL
ARP715
This Recommended Practice covers a means of determining the performance acceptability of new production or overhauled starters that will be used for cranking turbine engines and is intended for use where torque measuring equipment is not available or desirable. This method determines acceptability of the overall performance of the starter on a flywheel test stand, rather than the performance at specific speed conditions. It allows a slight variation of output torque outside specified limits, as long as the overall performance is up to standard.

ACOUSTICS — MEASUREMENT OF AIRBORNE NOISE EMITTED BY EARTHMOVING MACHINERY — METHOD FOR DETERMINING COMPLIANCE WITH LIMITS FOR EXTERIOR NOISE — STATIONARY TEST CONDITION

1991-06-01
J2102_199106
This SAE Standard describes a method for determining the exterior noise emitted by earthmoving machinery in terms of the A-weighted sound power level while the machine is in a stationary test condition. At six positions on a hemispherical surface, the equivalent continuous A-weighted sound pressure levels are measured. The A-weighted sound power level of the machinery is calculated from the measured values.

ACOUSTICS—MEASUREMENT OF AIRBORNE NOISE EMITTED BY CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT INTENDED FOR OUTDOOR USE—METHOD FOR DETERMINING COMPLIANCE WITH NOISE LIMITS

1991-06-01
J2101_199106
This SAE Standard describes a method for measuring the weighted sound pressure levels at prescribed microphone positions in the proximity of a device or machine for outdoor use, in order to determine compliance with noise limits. The A-weighted sound power level of the source is calculated from the measured values.

AEROSPACE STANDARD, GLAND DESIGN, O-RING AND OTHER ELASTOMERIC SEALS

1993-06-11
HISTORICAL
AS4716
This SAE Aerospace Standard provides standardized gland (groove) design criteria and dimensions for elastomeric seal glands for static and dynamic applications. The glands have been specifically designed for applications using SAE AS568 size O-rings at pressures exceeding 1500 psi utilizing one or two anti-extrusion (backup) rings and applications at pressures under 1500 psi without backup rings. The glands have been sized to provide sufficient squeeze for effective sealing while at the same time limiting squeeze to allow satisfactory operation in dynamic applications. While specifically designed for standard size O-rings, these glands are also to be used with other elastomeric seals.
