Wide body jet airliners b. Narrow body jet airliner c. Turboprop/commuter aircraft d. Business jet aircraft The airliners that have been included in this document are generally in operational service with either airlines or cargo operators. Information on aircraft that have been retired from in-service use has been included for reference purposes. No information is presented for aircraft that are currently being developed.

It also includes the 14 CFR Part 25/CS 25 regulations that apply to hydraulic components. It also provides information to be included in the Procurement Specification in Appendix A and a checklist for design reviews in Appendix B. It does not provide requirements for distribution elements such as hoses, pipe fittings and general tubing.

The purpose of this SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) is to provide guide lines for allowable leakage for in-service aircraft hydraulic components at a nominal 100 °F (38 °C) temperature and to outline the procedure for measuring such leakage. The limits to be applied to any specific aircraft should be adjusted before inclusion in a maintenance manual.
