“LIN-BOX” is designed as a development tool for simulation, implementation and test of the automotive LIN (Local Interconnect Network) control devices or entire network. The tool can be used to simulate master and/or slaves around LIN system. The configurable signal processing makes it possible to simulate and test the communication behavior. LIN-BOX monitors the bus traffic in the vehicle. The data on LIN bus can not only be shown on various windows but also written into log files. LIN-BOX has been used by several cases for debugging and validation, the result shows that it is a powerful tool for LIN cluster design, simulation and test.

A New U-Net Speech Enhancement Framework Based on Correlation Characteristics of Speech

2024-04-09
2024-01-2015
As a key component of in-vehicle intelligent voice technology, speech enhancement can extract clean speech signals contaminated by environmental noise to improve the perceptual quality and intelligibility of speech. It has extensive applications in the field of intelligent car cabins. Although some end-to-end speech enhancement methods based on time domain have been proposed, there is often limited consideration given to designing model architectures based on the characteristics of the speech signal. In this paper, we propose a new U-Net based speech enhancement framework that utilizes the temporal correlation of speech signals to reconstruct higher-quality and more intelligible clean speech.

A Trust Establishment Mechanism of VANETs based on Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP)

2022-03-29
2022-01-0142
As the connectivity of vehicles increases rapidly, more vehicles have the capability to communicate with each other. Because Vehicular Ad-hoc NETworks (VANETs) have the characteristics of solid mobility and decentralization, traditional security strategies such as authentication, firewall, and access control are difficult to play an influential role. As a soft security method, trust management can ensure the security attributes of VANETs. However, the rapid growth of newly encountered nodes of the trust management system also increases the requirements for trust establishing mechanisms. Without a proper trust establishment mechanism, the trust value of the newly encountered nodes will deviate significantly from its actual performance, and the trust management system will suffer from newcomer attacks.

Correlation Analysis of Interior and Exterior Wind Noise Sources of a Production Car Using Beamforming Techniques

2017-03-28
2017-01-0449
Beamforming techniques are widely used today in aeroacoustic wind tunnels to identify wind noise sources generated by interaction between incoming flow and the test object. In this study, a planar spiral microphone array with 120 channels was set out-of-flow at 1:1 aeroacoustic wind tunnel of Shanghai Automotive Wind Tunnel Center (SAWTC) to test exterior wind noise sources of a production car. Simultaneously, 2 reference microphones were set in vehicle interior to record potential sound source signal near the left side view mirror triangle and the signal of driver’s ear position synchronously. In addition, a spherical array with 48 channels was set inside the vehicle to identify interior noise sources synchronously as well. With different correlation methods and an advanced algorithm CLEAN-SC, the ranking of contributions of vehicle exterior wind noise sources to interested interior noise locations was accomplished.

Fault-Tolerant Ability Testing for Automotive Ethernet

2018-04-03
2018-01-0755
With the introduction of BroadR-Reach and time-sensitive networking (TSN), Ethernet has become an option for in-vehicle networks (IVNs). Although it has been used in the IT field for decades, it is a new technology for automotive, and thus requires extensive testing. Current test solutions usually target specifications rather than the in-vehicle environment, which means that some properties are still uncertain for in-vehicle usage (e.g., fault tolerance for shorted or open wires). However, these characteristics must be cleared before applying Ethernet in IVNs, because of stringent vehicular safety requirements. Because CAN is usually used for these environments, automotive Ethernet is expected to have the same or better level of fault tolerance. Both CAN and BroadR-Reach use a single pair of twisted wires for physical media; thus, the traditional fault-tolerance test method can be applied for automotive Ethernet.

Functional Safety and Secure CAN in Motor Control System Design for Electric Vehicles

2017-03-28
2017-01-1255
Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) are widely used in the electric vehicles for their high power density and high energy efficiency. And the motor control system for electric vehicles is one of the most critical safety related systems in electric vehicles, because potential failures of this system can lead to serious harm to humans’ body, so normally a high automotive safety integrity level (ASIL) will be assigned to this system. In this paper, an ASIL-C motor control system based on a multicore microcontroller is presented. At the same time, due to the increasing number of connectivity on the vehicle, secure onboard communication conformed to the AUTOSAR standard is also implemented in the system to prevent external attacks.

In-Vehicle Driving Posture Reconstruction from 3D Scanning Data Using a 3D Digital Human Modeling Tool

2016-04-05
2016-01-1357
Driving posture study is essential for the evaluation of the occupant packaging. This paper presents a method of reconstructing driver’s postures in a real vehicle using a 3D laser scanner and Human Builder (HB), the digital human modeling tool under CATIA. The scanning data was at first converted into the format readable by CATIA, and then a personalized HB manikin was generated mainly using stature, sitting height and weight. Its pelvis position and joint angles were manually adjusted so as to match the manikin with the scan envelop. If needed, a fine adjustment of some anthropometric dimensions was also preceded. Finally the personalized manikin was put in the vehicle coordinate system, and joint angels and joint positions were extracted for further analysis.

Revealing the Impact of Mechanical Pressure on Lithium-Ion Pouch Cell Formation and the Evolution of Pressure During the Formation Process

2024-04-09
2024-01-2192
The formation is a crucial step in the production process of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), during which the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) is formed on the surface of the anode particles to passivate the electrode. It determines the performance of the battery, including its capacity and lifetime. A meticulously designed formation protocol is essential to regulate and optimize the stability of the SEI, ultimately achieving the optimal performance of the battery. Current research on formation protocols in lithium-ion batteries primarily focuses on temperature, current, and voltage windows. However, there has been limited investigation into the influence of different initial pressures on the formation process, and the evolution of cell pressure during formation remains unclear. In this study, a pressure-assisted formation device for lithium-ion pouch cells is developed, equipped with pressure sensors.

Starting Process Control of a 2-Cylinder PFI Gasoline Engine for Range Extender

2020-04-14
2020-01-0315
With the increasing worldwide concern on environmental pollution, battery electrical vehicles (BEV) have attracted a lot attention. However, it still couldn’t satisfy the market requirements because of the low battery power density, high cost and long charging time. The range-extended electrical vehicle (REEV) got more attention because it could avoid the mileage anxiety of the BEVs with lower cost and potentially higher efficiency. When internal combustion engine (ICE) works as the power source of range extender (RE) for REEV, its NVH, emissions in starting process need to be optimized. In this paper, a 2-cylinder PFI gasoline engine and a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) are coaxially connected. Meanwhile, batteries and load systems were equipped. The RE co-control system was developed based on Compact RIO (Compact Reconfigurable IO), Labview and motor control unit (MCU).

Study on Important Indices Related to Driver Feelings for LKA Intervention Process

2018-08-07
2018-01-1586
Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA) system is a very important part in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). It prevents a vehicle from departing out of the lane by exerting intervention. But an inappropriate performance during LKA intervention makes driver feel uncomfortable. The intervention of LKA can be divided into 3 parts: intervention timing, intervention process and intervention ending. Many researches have studied about the intervention timing and ending, but factors during intervention process also affect driver feelings a lot, such as yaw rate and steering wheel velocity. To increase driver’s acceptance of LKA, objective and subjective tests were designed and conducted to explore important indices which are highly correlated with the driver feelings. Different kinds of LKA controller control intervention process in different ways. Therefore, it’s very important to describe the intervention process uniformly and objectively.
