This Aerospace Standard (AS) documents the operating instructions, rules, policies, and practices of the Performance Review Institute (PRI), an affiliate of SAE. Covered in this standard are the operations of NADCAP committees, headquarters and field personnel, requirements for ongoing relations with suppliers, and procedures for conducting audits, continuing surveillance and accreditation. Supporting SAE NADCAP Aerospace Standards provide supplier requirements for complying with each individual accreditation process.

This aerospace standard outlines the minimum requirements for the quality assurance program of a distributor of new aircraft or aerospace parts and material. It is designed to aid in the surveillance and accreditation of a distributor who procures new parts and materials and resells these products to customers or other distributors in the aviation or aerospace industry, i.e., a PASS THROUGH distributor. This standard may be used to determine the adequacy and implementation of the distributor’s quality assurance program.

This Aerospace Standard (AS) establishes the requirements for suppliers of nondestructive testing (NDT) to be accredited by the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP) in accordance with the current revision of SAE AS7003. Using the audit checklist and the applicable supplementary checklists will ensure that accredited NDT suppliers meet the requirements of this standard and all applicable supplementary standards. When customer requirements differ from those specified herein, the customer requirements shall take precedence. The NADCAP Nondestructive Testing Task Group recognizes SAE AS7004, SAE AS7106, SAE AS7107 or other quality systems documents approved by the NADCAP NDT Task Group as equivalent to portions of this document as noted in the audit checklist.

This Aerospace Standard (AS) is to be used as a supplement to SAE AS7109. In addition to the requirements contained in AS7109, the requirements contained herein shall apply to suppliers seeking NADCAP Coatings accreditation who are engaged in plating of coated parts. Demonstrated compliance (as described in SAE AS7003) to SAE AS7108 satisfies the requirements contained herein.

The requirements contained herein may be supplemented by additional requirements specified by Nadcap Coatings Task Group. Using the audit checklist (PRI AC7109) will ensure that accredited Coatings suppliers meet all of the requirements in this standard and all applicable supplementary standards.
