This Aerospace Information Report provides an overview of published data on different methods for designing electromechanical actuators with a very low probability of jam or disconnect.
Rationale: Electromechanical actuators are currently limited in their use as primary flight control actuators due to the probability of jam and disconnect relative to the Electrohydraulic and Electrohydrostatic actuator architectures. This document is a collection of publically available information from patent documents, SAE presentations and other public sources of information.
