Recommended Corrosion Test Methods for Commercial Vehicle Components

2023-05-31
CURRENT
J2721_202305
This document establishes recommended practices to validate acceptable corrosion performance of metallic components and assemblies used in medium truck, heavy truck, and bus and trailer applications. The focus of the document is methods of accelerated testing and evaluation of results. A variety of test procedures are provided that are appropriate for testing components at various locations on the vehicle. The procedures incorporate cyclic conditions including corrosive chemicals, drying, humidity, and abrasive exposure. These procedures are intended to be effective in evaluating a variety of corrosion mechanisms as listed in Table 1. Test duration may be adjusted to achieve any desired level of exposure. Aggravating conditions such as joint rotation, mechanical stress, and temperature extremes are also considered. This document does not address the chemistry of corrosion or methods of corrosion prevention. For information in these areas, refer to SAE J447 or similar standard.

Sealing Compound, Polythioether Rubber, Light-Cured, for Integral Fuel Tanks and General Purpose, Intermittent use to 360 °F (182 °C)

2022-04-25
CURRENT
AMS1389
This specification covers polythioether rubber fuel resistant sealing compounds, supplied as a two-component system, which cure rapidly when exposed to a cure on demand (CoD) light source used to initiate a reaction that generates crosslinking of sealant polymers. Type 2 compounds also cure at ambient conditions, without light exposure.

Small Craft - Marine Propulsion Engine and Systems - Power Measurements and Declarations

2021-02-19
WIP
J1228

This SAE Standard specifies the test requirements in addition to those given in ISO 3046-1 for determining the power, at a single point or as a power curve, of marine propulsion engines or systems for recreational craft and other small craft using similar propulsion equipment of less than 24 m length of the hull.

It also provides the means for documenting and checking the declared (rated) power published by the manufacturer.

Hydrogen Surface Vehicle to Station Communications Hardware and Software

2019-12-13
CURRENT
J2799_201912
This standard specifies the communications hardware and software requirements for fueling hydrogen surface vehicles (HSV), such as fuel cell vehicles, but may also be used where appropriate, with heavy-duty vehicles (e.g., busses) and industrial trucks (e.g., forklifts) with compressed hydrogen storage. It contains a description of the communications hardware and communications protocol that may be used to refuel the HSV. The intent of this standard is to enable harmonized development and implementation of the hydrogen fueling interfaces. This standard is intended to be used in conjunction with the hydrogen fueling protocols in SAE J2601 and nozzles and receptacles conforming with SAE J2600.
