Combination of Test with Simulation Analysis of Brake Groan Phenomenon

2014-04-01
2014-01-0869
During a car launch, the driving torque from driveline acts on brake disk, and may lead the pad to slip against the disk. Especially with slow brake pedal release, there is still brake torque applies on the disk, which will retard the rotation of disk, and under certain conditions, the disk and pad may stick again, so the reciprocated stick and slip can induce the noise and vibration, which can be transmitted to a passenger by both tactile and aural paths, this phenomenon is defined as brake groan. In this paper, we propose a nonlinear dynamics model of brake for bidirectional, and with 7 Degrees of Freedom (DOFs), and phase locus and Lyapunov Second Method are utilized to study the mechanism of groan. Time-frequency analysis method then is adopted to analyze the simulation results, meanwhile a test car is operated under corresponding conditions, and the test signals are sampled and then processed to acquire the features.

2022-01-0084
For high levels autonomous driving functions, the Decision Layer often takes on more responsibility due to the requirement of facing more diverse and even rare conditions. It is very difficult to accurately find a safe and efficient lane change timing when autonomous vehicles encounter complex traffic flow and need to change lanes. The traditional method based on rules and experiences has the limitation that it is difficult to be taken into account all possible conditions. Therefore, this paper designs a lane-changing decision algorithm based on data-driven and machine learning, and uses the DQN (Deep Q Network) algorithm in Reinforcement Learning to determine the appropriate lane-changing timing and target lane. Firstly, the scene characteristics of the highway are analyzed, the input and output of the decision-making model are designated and the data from the Perception Layer are processed.

The Pendulum Motion Measured Digital Photogrammetry for a Centrifugal Pendulum Vibration Absorber

2023-01-0124
Centrifugal Pendulum Vibration Absorber (CPVA for short) is used to absorb torsional vibrations caused by the shifting motion of the engine. It is increasingly used in modern powertrains. In the research of the dynamic characteristics of the CPVA, it is necessary to obtain the real motion of the pendulum to compensate the fitting performance of mathematical model. The usual method is to install an angle sensor to measure the movement of the pendulum. On the one hand, the installation of the sensor will affect its movement to a certain extent, so that the measurement results do not match the actual motion. On the other hand, the motion of the pendulum is not only the rotational motion around the rotational axis of the CPVA rotor, but also has translation relative to it. As a result, it is difficult to obtain accurate motion only by the angle sensor. We proposed a non-contact centrifugal pendulum motion measurement method.

Multi-objective Combination Optimization of Automobile Subframe Dynamic Stiffness

2023-04-11
2023-01-0005
Subframe is an important part of automobile chassis, which is connected with body, suspension control arm, powertrain mount, etc. The dynamic stiffness value of the connection point is an important performance index of the subframe, which affects the vibration of the vehicle body. This paper introduces the basic concept and related theory of dynamic stiffness, derives the theoretical formula of dynamic stiffness, and analyzes the frequency response of the key points of the subframe. In view of the fact that the dynamic stiffness of the subframe of a certain vehicle model is not up to the standard at some connection points, the dynamic stiffness CAE simulation analysis is carried out to determine the frequency range of insufficient dynamic stiffness and the connection points that need to be optimized.

Numeric Study on Torsional Characteristics of Dual Mass Flywheel with Circumferential ARC Spring

2019-01-0934
The rapid development of automotive technology has promoted the application of higher efficiency engines, while also putting higher requirements on the control of crankshaft torsional vibration. The traditional clutch driven disc torsional vibration damper can no longer meet the current new vibration and noise reduction requirements. Under these circumstances adopting dual mass flywheel (DMF) could be an efficient measure to reduce powertrain torsional fluctuations. For the sake of studying the torsional characteristics of DMF, a dual mass flywheel with circumstance arc spring (DMF-CS) is taken as the research subject. Firstly, According to lumped mass model, a multi-degree of freedom torsional vibration model of DMF-CS is established, which takes the mutual conversion of dry friction and viscous friction into consideration. Then, the overall and partial torsion characteristics of dual mass flywheel are obtained through numerical analysis.

Multi-Objective Control of Dynamic Chassis Considering Road Roughness Class Recognition

For the DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control) system, in addition to the requirement of ride and comfort, it is also necessary to consider the requirement of handling and stability, and these two requirements are often not met at the same time. This poses a great challenge to the design of the controller, especially in the face of complex working conditions. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a comprehensive DCC controller that considers road roughness class recognition. Firstly, a quarter vehicle model is established, the road surface roughness is calculated from the vertical acceleration of the wheels measured by the sensors. Then we calculate the autocorrelation function and the Fourier transform to estimate the PSD (Power Spectral Density) to get the road roughness class. Then control algorithms are designed for the vertical motion control, roll control and pitch control.

Multi-Objective Optimization Employing Genetic Algorithm for the Torque Converter with Dual-Blade Stator

2015-04-14
2015-01-1119
The traditional automotive torque converter (TC) is equipped with a single-blade stator, at the suction side of which there is an apparent boundary layer separation at stalling condition because of its large impending angle. The separation flow behind the suction side of stator blade is found to create large area of low-energy flow which blocks effective flow passage area, produces more energy losses, decreases impeller torque capacity and transmission efficiency. It is found effective to suppress the boundary layer separation by separating the original single-blade stator into a primary and a secondary part. The gap between them guides high-energy flow at the pressurized side of the primary blade to the suction side of the secondary one, which helps to make boundary layer flow stable. As a result, the impeller torque capacity and torque ratio at low-speed ratio increase tremendously at the cost of little drop of maximum efficiency.

2022-01-7046
As a newly designed hybrid transmission, DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission) owns the advantages of compact structure, multi-modes and excellent comprehensive performance. Compared with the traditional add-on hybrid transmission with one single motor, DHT uses one independent generator for engine starting and speed adjusting which can be largely improve the driving performance in the mode changing process. Based on the series-parallel DHT with wet clutch for power coupling, this paper firstly analyses the power coupling clutch device functionalities from the power flow viewpoint under normal and limp home condition. And for the changing process from series to parallel mode, a clutch coordination control strategy is designed by combining generator fast speed adjusting with clutch accurately pressure controlling to fulfill the fast driver intension response and clutch protection.

Experimental schemes, frequency characteristics, subjective and objective sound quality evaluation and sound quality prediction model establishment of a certain mass-production SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV) manual transmission gear rattle phenomenon were analyzed in this paper. Firstly, vehicle experiments, including experiment conditions, vibration acceleration sensor and microphone arrangements and especial considerations in experiments, were described in detail. Secondly, through time-frequency analysis, broadband characteristics of manual transmission gear rattle noise were identified and vibro-impact of gear rattle occurs in the frequency range of 450~4000Hz on the vehicle idle condition and the creeping condition. Thirdly, based on bandwidth filtering processing of gear rattle noise, subjective assessment experiments by a paired comparison method were carried out.
