A Tilt Table Procedure for Measuring the Static Rollover Threshold for Heavy Trucks

2011-05-17
CURRENT
J2180_201105
The test procedure applies to roll coupled units such as straight trucks, tractor semitrailers, full trailers, B-trains, etc. The test is aimed at evaluating the level of lateral acceleration required to rollover a vehicle or a roll-coupled unit of a vehicle in a steady turning situation. Transient, vibratory, or dynamic rollover situations are not simulated by this test. Furthermore, the accuracy of the test decreases as the tilt angle increases, although this is a small effect at the levels of tilt angle used in testing heavy trucks. The test accuracy is accepted for vehicles that will rollover at lateral acceleration levels below 0.5 g corresponding to a tilt table angle of less than approximately 27 degrees. Even so, the results for heavy trucks with rollover thresholds greater than 0.5 g could be used for comparing their relative static roll stability.

AIR CLEANER TEST CODE

1960-03-01
HISTORICAL
J726_196003
This test code is for laboratory use in determining the operating characteristics of air cleaners. It refers specifically to laboratory testing of oil bath, oil wetted, dry and multistage air cleaners. Other types should follow this recommended practice wherever applicable. Multistage types should be evaluated as a complete assembly although, if desired, a component stage can be tested separately in accordance with its individual type. This code contains alternate procedures and permits prescribing certain specific conditions of a lest. Therefore reported results of tests are not complete unless accompanied by statements, where applicable, of the specific conditions such as: (1) rated air flow, (2) prescribed air flow. (3) steady or variable airflow, (4) fine or coarse dust, (5) amount of (lust, and (6) maximum permissible restriction.

Agricultural Tractor Test Code

2003-05-15
CURRENT
J708_200305
The purpose of this SAE Standard is to define test conditions, give a description of the tests to be made, specify data to be obtained, show formulas and calculations, define terms, and establish a uniform method of reporting so that performance data obtained on various makes and models of tractors, tested in accordance with this document, will be comparable regardless of where the test is made. It is obvious, because of the many present day tractor models available in a number of types with numerous items of special or optional equipment, that the scope of this document must be limited to obtaining and reporting only the most significant of widely used performance data.
