2023-09-14
2023-28-0021
These nanostructures of 1D, such as nanowires, nanotubes and nanorods, present great potential for enhancing photon absorption, electron transit, and electron collection in solar cells. Graphene is a 2D hexagonal lattice of carbon atoms that is atomically thin. The remarkable mechanical properties of graphene are due to its structure, in which each carbon atom shares three of its four electrons in covalent bonds with its nearest neighbours (sp2 bonds). ...The remarkable mechanical properties of graphene are due to its structure, in which each carbon atom shares three of its four electrons in covalent bonds with its nearest neighbours (sp2 bonds). ...At the same time, the remaining fourth electrons are delocalized across the two-dimensional lattice in an orbital that accounts for the majority of the material’s optoelectronic capabilities. Also, Graphene is noted for having mobility that exceeds that of good metals. Furthermore, since a number of solution-based techniques, such as simple spin coating, may be used to create thin films of graphene a range of compositions can be created utilising low-cost, straightforward, and large-scale processes.

Optimization and Performance Evaluation of Additives-Enhanced Fluid in Machining Using Split-Plot Design

2024-04-15
Building on this promising fluid, we explored further improvements by adding three nanoscale additives: Nano-graphite (GHT), zinc oxide (ZnO), and reduced graphene oxide (RGRO) at different weight percentages (0.06%, 0.08%, 0.1%, and 0.3%). Comparative tests using a four-ball wear tester revealed that the fluid with 0.08% nano-GHT performed the best, boasting a CFN of 0.039, surpassing both the unmodified fluid and conventional commercial cutting fluids (CMCFs).

Oil debris monitoring in aero engines In a gas turbine engine, small particles or "chips" are generated at the point of wear, serving as an advanced warning that catastrophic failure will occur if the wear is not addressed. Health monitoring systems, such as oil debris monitoring, are used to find these small particles so that the wear can be resolved before it's too late. Indigenous powertrain development Customer needs and expectations on drivability, fuel economy, and safety has pushed Indian and multinational OEMs to think about the development of powertrains and gearboxes for local needs with global standards. The next wave of crash simulation As computing speed has improved and software itself has made significant speed and performance gains with each release, modeling tools are now quick enough to build high-quality, large, high-detail vehicle models in a very efficient manner.

Nanotechnology: A Crash Course

2010-01-01
The past few decades have seen an explosive increase in our ability to create nanostructures and nanosystems with a great degree of control, using a diversity of techniques. This ability has been accompanied by a similar enhancement in our ability to characterize structures and systems at the nanoscale. Nanotechnology: A Crash Course provides a broad overview of those nanostructures and nanosystems (together termed "Nanotechnology"). It covers structural characteristics and properties of nanostructures, nanofabrication techniques, methods for characterizing nanostructures, and applications for nanomaterials. The book also provides a thought-provoking assessment of the possible implications of nanotechnology in society, and likely future trends.
