2015-01-0501
In this paper, the performance simulation model of a domestic self-dumping truck was established using AVL-Cruise software. Then its accuracy was checked by the power performance and fuel economy tests which were conducted on the proving ground. The power performance of the self-dumping truck was evaluated through standing start acceleration time from 0 to 70km/h, overtaking acceleration time from 60 to 70km/h, maximum speed and maximum gradeability, while the composite fuel consumption per hundred kilometers was taken as an evaluation index of fuel economy. A L9 orthogonal array was applied to investigate the effect of three matching factors including engine, transmission and final drive, which were considered at three levels, on the power performance and fuel economy of the self-dumping truck. Furthermore, the grey relational grade was proposed to assess the multiple performance responses according to the grey relational analysis.

2021-01-5088
To quickly and efficiently match the planetary gearset characteristic parameter of power-spilt hybrid vehicles so that their oil-saving potential can be maximized, this study proposes a parameter matching method that comprehensively considers energy management strategy and driving cycle based on an analysis of vehicle instantaneous efficiency. The method is used to match the planetary characteristic parameter of a power-split hybrid light truck. The relevant conclusions are compared with the influence of various planetary characteristic parameters on fuel consumption obtained through simulation under typical operating conditions. The simulation results show that the influence laws of the various planetary characteristic parameters on vehicle average efficiency are similar to those on fuel consumption. The proposed parameter-matching method based on vehicle efficiency analysis can effectively match the planetary characteristic parameter for power-split hybrid powertrains.

2020-01-5056
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of two-stage pilot injection parameters on the combustion and emissions of pilot diesel compression ignition natural gas (CING) engine at low load. Experiments were performed using a diesel/natural gas dual-fuel engine, which was modified from a six-cylinder diesel engine. The effect of injection timing and injection pressure of two-stage pilot diesel were analyzed in order to reduce both the fuel consumption and total hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions under low load conditions. The results indicate that, because injection timing can determine the degree of pilot diesel stratification, in-cylinder thermodynamic state, and the available mixing time prior to the combustion, the combustion process can be controlled and optimized through adjusting injection timing.

Vehicle Longitudinal Control Algorithm Based on Iterative Learning Control

2016-04-05
2016-01-1653
Vehicle Longitudinal Control (VLC) algorithm is the basis function of automotive Cruise Control system. The main task of VLC is to achieve a longitudinal acceleration tracking controller, performance requirements of which include fast response and high tracking accuracy. At present, many control methods are used to implement vehicle longitudinal control. However, the existing methods are need to be improved because these methods need a high accurate vehicle dynamic model or a number of experiments to calibrate the parameters of controller, which are time consuming and costly. To overcome the difficulties of controller parameters calibration and accurate vehicle dynamic modeling, a vehicle longitudinal control algorithm based on iterative learning control (ILC) is proposed in this paper. The algorithm works based on the information of input and output of the system, so the method does not require a vehicle dynamics model.

2020-01-0586
The platooning of connected automated vehicles (CAV) possesses the significant potential of reducing energy consumption in the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). Moreover, with the rapid development of eco-driving technology, vehicle platooning can further enhance the fuel efficiency by optimizing the efficiency of the powertrain. Since road grade is a main factor that affects the energy consumption of a vehicle, the estimation of the road grade with high accuracy is the key factor for a connected vehicle platoon to optimize energy consumption using vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication. Commonly, the road grade is quantified by single consumer grade global positioning system (GPS) with the geodetic height data which is rough and in the meter-level, increasing the difficulty of precisely estimating the road grade.

2020-01-0131
To reduce the interference and conflict of human-machine cooperative control, lighten the operation workload of drivers, and improve the friendliness and acceptability of intelligent vehicles, a personalized human-machine cooperative lane-change trajectory tracking control method was proposed. First, a lane-changing driving data acquisition test was carried out to collect different driving behaviors of different drivers and form the data pool for the machine learning method. Two typical driving behaviors from an aggressive driver and a moderate driver are selected to be studied. Then, a control structure combined by feedforward and feedback control based on Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) and model-based optimum control was introduced. LSTM is a machine learning method that has the ability of memory. It is used to capture the lane-changing behaviors of each driver to achieve personalization. For each driver, a specific personalized controller is trained using his driving data.

2020-01-0765
The design of suspension affects the vehicle dynamics such as ride comfort and handling stability. Nonlinear characteristics and friction are important characteristics of suspension system, and the influence on vehicle dynamic performance cannot be ignored. Based on the seven-degree-of-freedom vehicle vibration nonlinear model with friction, the vibration response process of the vehicle and the influence of suspension friction on vehicle ride comfort and suspension action process were studied. The results show that friction will significantly affects the simulation of ride comfort and coincide with the function of the shock absorber. The suspension shock absorbers of vehicles were optimized with and without suspension friction. The results showed that the suspension tended to choose softer shock absorbers when there was friction. However, both of the two optimizations are able to improve the ride comfort of vehicles, and the simulation results were similar.

All these facilities improve the safety and conformability of the vehicle system and get rid of the mechanical constricts. This paper proposed three vehicle stability control strategies, including front wheel control, yaw rate feedback control and yaw rate& acceleration feedback control. We compared these three control methods by simulation and simulator tests. We also studied the integrated control algorithm of Steer-by-Wire System and 4WS, and compared with 2WS for SBW and the classical 4WS.

2007-01-1588
In China there is a strong trend in the application of vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions in considering the complexity of traffic and the convenience of automatic transmissions. As a type of automatic transmission, automated mechanical transmission (AMT) shows great potential to be developed as a main transmission because of its simple structures, easy upgrade from manual transmission (MT) and low price. Support Vector Machine (SVM) is a new statistic method which could make a good prediction with limited training instances. Compared with Artificial Neutral Network (ANN), SVM can provide better genetic ability. In order to verify the ability of the new method, the model trained by one set of AMT car data was applied on some other AMT vehicles, and the predicted results were compared with subjective rating results by expert drivers and analyzed to identify the potential of this new assessment system.

2008-01-1687
Electronic hydraulic control system adopted in the conventional vehicle continuously variable transmissions needs to consume energy incessantly for its oil pump driven by engine working continuously. As a result we can reduce the fuel consumption of the engine by removing the pump and replacing the control system with electro-mechanical one. The paper introduces two types of electro-mechanical controlled CVT (EM-CVT). One of them use gear train which is driven by a motor, and the other applies a planetary gear control device which uses spring to provide clamping force and electromagnetism clutches to control the planetary gears. The former is mainly applied to small torque CVT, for its clamping force brought from spring is limited. The latter can offer larger clamping force, and can be applied to prevalent CVT nowadays.

Research of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is an important issue of intelligent vehicle (IV). As we all known, a real and experienced driver can control vehicle's speed very well under every traffic environment of ACC working. So a direct and feasible way for establishing ACC controller is to build a human-like longitudinal control algorithm with the simulation of driver behavior of speed control. In this paper, a novel fuzzy self-tuning control algorithm of ACC is established and this controller's parameters can be tuned on-line based on the evaluation indexes that can describe how the driver consider the quality of dynamical characteristic of vehicle longitudinal dynamics. With the advantage of the controller's parameter on-line self-tuning, the computational workload from matching design of ACC controller is also efficiently reduced.

2004-01-1107
Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) is a new power steering technology that will define the future of vehicle steering. The assist of EPAS is the function of the steering wheel torque and vehicle velocity. The assist characteristic of EPAS is set by control software, which is one of the key issues of EPAS. The straight-line type assist characteristic has been used in some current EPAS products, but its influence on the steering maneuverability and road feel hasn't been explicitly studied in theory. In this paper, the straight-line type assist characteristic is analyzed theoretically. Then a whole vehicle dynamic model used to study the straight-line type assist characteristic is built with ADAMS/Car and validated with DCF (Driver Control Files) mode of ADAMS/Car. Based on the whole vehicle dynamic model, the straight-line type assist characteristic's influence on the steering maneuverability and road feel is investigated.

2017-01-0406
This paper presents an integrated method for rapid modeling, simulation and virtual evaluation of the interface pressure between driver human body and seat. For simulation of the body-seat interaction and for calculation of the interface pressure, besides body dimensions and material characteristics an important aspect is the posture and position of the driver body with respect to seat. In addition, to ensure accommodation of the results to the target population usually several individuals are simulated, whose body anthropometries cover the scope of the whole population. The multivariate distribution of the body anthropometry and the sampling techniques are usually adopted to generate the individuals and to predict the detailed body dimensions. In biomechanical modeling of human body and seat, the correct element type, the rational settings of the contacts between different parts, the correct exertion of the loads to the calculation field, etc., are also crucial.
