Tire and Wheel Safety Issues

One of the most important safety critical components on cars, trucks, and aircraft is the pneumatic tire. Vehicle tires primarily control stopping distances on wet and dry roads or runways and strongly influence over-steer/under-steer behavior in handling maneuvers of cars and trucks. The inflated tire-wheel assembly also acts as a pressure vessel that releases a large amount of energy when catastrophically deflated. The tire can also serve as a fulcrum, both directly and indirectly, in contributing to vehicle rollover. This course covers these facets of tire safety phenomena.

Theories and Methods of Future HMI Design for Automobiles

This course is offered in China only and presented in Mandarin Chinese. HMI design is an Interdisciplinary, which is based on human cognitive psychology and combines humanities, sociology, aesthetics, information science and other disciplines. While automotive technologies can be applied regardless of regions, HMI must be localized, as it is closely related to regional culture, people's living habits and characteristics. At the same time, HMI design has its own complete theoretical system, research and design methods and testing methods, instead of relying on experience.

The Tire as a Vehicle Component

The principal functions of the pneumatic tire are to generate driving, braking, and cornering forces while safely carrying the vehicle load and providing adequate levels of ride comfort. This course explains how tire forces and moments are generated under different operating and service conditions and, in turn, demonstrates how these forces and moments influence various vehicle responses such as braking, handling, ride, and high-speed performance. The content focuses on the fundamentals of tire behavior in automobiles, trucks, and farm tractors, but also includes experimental and empirical results, when necessary.

Technical Path and Case Analysis of Lightweight Forward Engineering for Vehicle Development and Design

The importance of weight reduction in vehicle design is well known. In recent years, OEMs have been working on vehicle lightweight research and application, particularly for new energy vehicles. Currently, many Chinese OEMs establish a lightweight target and expect that weight savings will be distributed among the vehicle’s various systems.  This tends to keep the weight reduction effort at the level of parts or partial weight loss design development and application.

System Engineering and Strategic Program Management for the Aviation Industry

2024-08-27
This course is offered in China only and presented in Mandarin Chinese. The course materials are bilingual (English and Chinese). The course directly addresses improved aircraft system design tools and processes, which, when implemented will significantly contribute to simpler, lower cost and even safer airplanes that meet customer quality demands. Adding value to the high-leveraged area of design (reducing design by involving manufacturing) — which is what this course does — can start to reverse the current trend (overrun and long delay) and help aircraft companies be more profitable.
