Guidance for Model-Based Development and Verification (DO-331)

This course is offered in China only and presented in Mandarin Chinese. The course materials are bilingual (English and Chinese). Model-Based Development and Verification (MBDV) technology has been widely accepted in software production. When this technology is used in airborne software, key issues should be considered to ensure airworthiness and safety goals are met. To facilitate the use the MBDV technology, RTCA DO-331 is published as a supplement and guidance support to DO-178C. Because MBDV is regularly used in critical software applications, guidance is needed to apply it to airborne software.

RTCA DO-178C  is the globally-accepted standard for civil aviation software development and certification. Compliance with the objectives of DO-178C is the primary means for meeting airworthiness requirements and obtaining approval of airborne software in TC/STC/TSO, etc. Even after study of the DO-178C, many people lack experience producing DO-178C compliant airborne software in real applications.

Software technology for airborne and ground-based operations has changed and software development teams frequently need guidance on tools for the development, verification, transformation, testing, modification and control of software programs. Developed in support of DO-178C or CO-278A, RTCA DO-330 explains the process and objectives for qualifying software tools and facilitates the compliance of airborne products.

Vehicle Crash Reconstruction Principles and Technology

Crash reconstruction is a scientific process that utilizes principles of physics and empirical data to analyze the physical, electronic, video, audio, and testimonial evidence from a crash to determine how and why the crash occurred. This course will introduce this reconstruction process as it gets applied to various crash types - in-line and intersection collisions, pedestrian collisions, motorcycle crashes, rollover crashes, and heavy truck crashes. Photographs and video recordings of vehicle crashes and accident sites are more prevalent than ever, with dash mounted cameras, surveillance footage, and personal cell phones now ubiquitous. The information contained in these pictures and videos provide critical information to understanding how crashes occurred, and  analyze physical evidence. This course teaches the theory and techniques for getting the most out of digital media, including correctly processing raw video and photographs, correcting for lens distortion, and using photogrammetric techniques to convert the information in digital media to usable scaled three-dimensional data.
