Design of Experiments - Basic Simplified Taguchi

Design of Experiments is a statistically based, structured approach to product or process improvement that will quickly yield significant increases in product quality and subsequent decreases in cost.  Products and processes can be designed to function with less variation and with less sensitivity to environmental factors or customer usage. While still maintaining high quality from a customer's viewpoint, products and processes can utilize lower cost materials and methods.  Specifications can be opened-up with wider tolerances while still maintaining high quality for customers.

Introduction to ISO 90012015 and IATF 169492016

The concept of a Quality System’s approach to business has been employed successfully and sometimes not so successfully for several decades. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has been supplying standards that list the key elements/clauses and requirements for building and implementing Quality Systems for over 30 years. These standards are based on the relatively simple concepts of Total Quality Management (TQM), essential principals of management, and a “Process” approach. These standards have been revised several times over the years to make them more realistic and user friendly.

Quality Function Deployment Transforming Voice of the Customer into Engineering Specifications

This course is offered in China only and presented in Mandarin Chinese. The course materials are bilingual (English and Chinese). Currently in the industry, especially within China, product requirement development is more of an experience-based process rather than a scientific methodology. This course addresses this issue and provides a more process-driven method for better requirement development through the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) methodology.  Real industrial examples are used to demonstrate how to systematically convert the voice of the customer data to engineering specifications using QFD.

Key Considerations for the Comparison of Power‐by‐Wire and Hydraulically Supplied Solutions for Aerospace Actuation

This four-hour short course provides key considerations for the comparison of electrically supplied (Power-by-Wire, or PbW) and hydraulically supplied (Power-by-Pipe, of PbP) actuation for aerospace. The focus is put on the consequence, for designers, of changing the physical principles and the technology used. A particular attention is paid to the unavoidable side effects introduced by the technological realization. Simple examples with realistic numerical values are used to make the comparisons quantitatively realistic.

Theories and Methods of Future HMI Design for Automobiles

This course is offered in China only and presented in Mandarin Chinese. HMI design is an Interdisciplinary, which is based on human cognitive psychology and combines humanities, sociology, aesthetics, information science and other disciplines. While automotive technologies can be applied regardless of regions, HMI must be localized, as it is closely related to regional culture, people's living habits and characteristics. At the same time, HMI design has its own complete theoretical system, research and design methods and testing methods, instead of relying on experience.

Aviation Parts to Medical Devices Bridging the Gap

This course is verified by Probitas Authentication as meeting the AS9104/3A requirements for continuing Professional Development. This one-day program is designed to provide introductory information for those organizations who are considering transitioning from the Aeronautic, Space and Defense industry to the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Medical Device Manufacturing market. Reviewing essential information necessary to understand and successfully begin the journey to FDA Medical Device approval, this course will examine many of the controls between the AS9100 Standard and FDA Regulations and identify the similarities.

Design and Evaluation of Automotive Static Perceptual Quality

This course is offered in China only and presented in Mandarin Chinese. Static perceptual quality is the term applied to the customer’s first impression of a car at the beginning of the buying process including how it looks, feels, and smells. This “first feeling” largely determines whether the customer continues through the purchase process. At present, OEMs have no systematic method for static perceptual quality in the whole vehicle design and development process, especially for the static perceptual quality review in the early stage of design and development before data freezing.
